Rune-Midgard Kingdom
Law: Runic Laws
As expected from the capital of Rune-Midgard, Prontera is a solid, well defended city. An inner wall protects the Central Square of the city, and the outer wall, dotted with guard towers, encircles the rest. The Central Square is both the center of the city and a bustling tradeguard. A wide variety of items are sold on the streets, and Prontera is famed for its free market.
History
The grand city Prontera was built during the reign of King Tristan the First to serve as the capital of Rune-Midgard. The surrounding land was good for farming, and the city grew and prospered, becoming a mighty economic and military power. The city, from its founding, has been linked to Christianity, as the Prontera Church itself can attest to. However, the matter of religion has become a turbulent issue since the return of the gods.
The current ruler of the city is King Tristan the III, a noted expansionist. Due to his influence, contact and trade agreements have been set up with other nations, including the island nations. These political ties have been stressed due to Rune-Midgard's banning of slavery.
Izlude, the satellite town of Prontera, is home to the Swordsman Guild, and tasked with training soldiers for The King’s Army, training the sons of lesser nobles for Knighthood, defending Prontera and the rest of Rune from sea bound enemies, and checking incoming merchants from Alberta and other nations. To this means, The Runic Air Ship Dock is located in the Izlude province, as well.
History
Izlude was established near Prontera by fishermen. As time passed, Izlude became responsible for training the King's Army, and it became the center of Rune's Naval Force. Ships pass frequently between Izlude and Alberta, along with Air Ships from Schwartzvald Republic and the Arunafeltz Nation.
The same laws that are in Prontera also apply to the satellite city, Izlude. Criminals from Izlude are often sent to Prontera for trial and punishment.
Geffen, the famed city of magic, makes it's home near the expansive Mt. Mjolnir. Magicians are trained in the magical school Geffen is so famous for, and the wizards use the central tower as their place of study. Beaneath the tower resides a strange path into an even stranger land of demons and nightmare. Geffen is built on an island in the middle of the lake, and drawbridges allow it to be seperated from the rest of the land in times of peril.
History
Unbeknownst to many, the peaceful city of Geffen has a dark secret beneath the surface — literally. The Geffen Tower, the center of the city, was originally built as a plug to stop the demons lurking below the surface from emerging from the depths. Historically, Geffen has kept to itself. Nothing much happened, except for an accidental explosion or two caused by one of the aspiring magicians. It was a boring, peaceful city, filled with what could be considered 'slightly eccentric' residents. Lately, though, more merchants, traders, and adventurers have been passing through, which has livened the place up a bit.
Alberta serves as the primary port town of Rune Midgard, and is home to the Merchant’s Guild. It is also the center of national relations, and serves as a secondary home to the King’s Navy. Two off-land locations have been discovered within the Alberta Province, a wrecked pirate ship, its crew still haunting it, as well as a small island with a mysterious idol.
History
The port city of Alberta has always been deeply connected to the sea, and the livlihood of many of its citizens rely on the fish in the ocean, and the ships and merchants which pass through every day. Even more traders have started to pass through lately, due to Tristan the III making contact with previously untraded with nations.
Late in Tristan the Second’s reign, a ship was discovered, haunted with the ghosts and undead sailors. It was recognized as a pirate ship, although the reason for the haunting is unknown even to this day.
Recently, after the sudden destruction of Morroc, a small rocky island has been discovered, barely large enough for a small party. The mysterious idol located on this island transports those who adventure daring enough to what appears to be a tall dungeon riddled with monsters.
Morroc used to be a jewel of the desert, built around a large oasis in the desert. Now, little more than ruins, Morroc sits in the desert waste land, a smoldering crater in the center of the destruction. Survivors of the sudden destruction now camp around an oasis towards the north-west.
History
The original history of Morroc has long sense been forgotten, warped and twisted by the telling and re-telling, and oft subject to the twisting of Bards until thought mere fantasy. One common fact in these tales, however, was that after a cataclysmic battle between two powerful entities that left the earth scared and barren, a castle was built overtop a seal in order to protect it, and keep a dark force locked beneath it. The earth healed, nay, blossomed, and people settled around the lifegiving water of the oasis that surrounded the castle that protected the seal.
The culture of Morroc is old and unique, cloistered away in the desert as they are, and they have built many impressive structures, such as the pyramids and the Sphinx, which houses one of their greatest pharaohs. Nearby the Assasins Guild and the Thieves Guild make their homes, as the government tends to turn a blind eye to crime, slavery, and general debauchery.
Due to the high quality and rich quantity of wood from the forest, Payon is the center of Archery. Payon trains archer’s for the King’s Army, and serves to put an end sea-bound enemies coming through Alberta.
History
Because of it’s out-of-the-way location, Payon’s culture grew independently of the still developing Rune-Midgard. Even after their first contact, and Prontera's takeover, Payon and the rest of Rune had little dealings with each other beyond preparing archers for the King’s Army and sending tributes to the king.
His Royal Majesty; King Tristan The Third broke this barrier between the people of Payon and the rest of Rune by sending Envoys, Royal Troops, Kafra Agents, and Guards to help the city in both protecting itself and the rest of Rune from invaders from the sea, as well as establishing a relationship with the nearly isolated village.
An interesting note, Payon was not always known just for it's archery, a form of Alchemy was also developed in the forest city. However, it never really advanced, and the practice died out.
As home of the Dancer Guild and the Rogue Guild, as well as a common resting place for the ever wandering Bards, Comodo is a center of entertainment. Comodo is well known for its luxiourous beach, it's spectacular fireworks, and its party like atmosphere. However, the city is not without its shadows. Despite the efforts of His Royal Majesty; King Tristan The Third, Comodo entertains the slave trade, and thrives off of it.
History
Many of the residents of Comodo are descendents from immigrants from Saunderman's Fortress. They were often invaded or pillaged, and even though they developed techniques to fight off the invaders, it was a hard lifestyle. Many decided they wished for something more and fled for the growing Comodo. Leaving Saunderman’s Fortress behind them, unable to defend it, the nomads finally took up their home on the sub-terrain beach, and ultimately grew from a small town, to a center of trade, to a famous, nearly lawless tourist town.
Umbala is a mysterious town built in the boughs of the tall trees of the jungle near Comodo. While part of Rune-Midgard, Umbala is not entirely a Runic city. Deeper within the Umbalan forest lies the path to the mythical Yggradasil tree.
History
Little is known about Umbala, as few in Rune-Midgard speak their language.
The city of Al de Baran is known for three things - its system of canals, its clock tower, and the fact that just about every war it changes hands. The citizens are rather used to the phenomenon, really, being a border town, so they live their day to day lives relatively unconcerned with who 'owns' them today. The city itself is very attractive, and it is home of the headquarters of the Kafra Corperation and the Alchemist Guild.
History
Rune-Midgard. Schwartzvald. Rune-Midgard. Schwartzvald. Again and again, Al de Baran changed hands. It once was an independent nation, but and it still is, somewhat, for neither of the contesting nations has much influence in Al de Baran. Currently, it is in the hands of Rune-Midgard, but that is always subject to change.
Schwaltzvalt Republic
Law: Schwaltzvalt Laws
Einbech, the mining town, extracts the ore from the nearby mine and sends it off to Einbroch to be refined and made into other products. The town itself is overcrowded and many citizens are poor. Living and working conditions are brutal, and many only stay because they cannot earn the money to extract themselves from the stew of poverty.
History
Einbech started as a small mining town, its residents comprised of the workers and their families. In its wake Einbroch formed, to process the ore that was sent from Einbech. Time passed, and resentment grew among the community, directed at the rich in Einbroch who looked down on the miners. The monsters that awoke in the mine, and the Master of the Caves, Ungoliant, did help matters in the slightest. Nowadays, conditions in the town are rather poor, and the smog produced from the factories seeps over into Einbech.
Like Yuno, Schwartzvald’s Capital, Lighthalzen is a center of Schwartzvald’s scientific advancement, pushing the nation’s material powers forward. The mighty city helped develop the alchemical knowledge, and was the focal point in developing Homunculi, Guild Guardians, Air Ships, and the Slave Races. Lighthalzen is also widely known as the center of Schwartzvald’s economy and many of the citizens are very prosperous. However, there is a certain section of the city — the slums — where the conditions are harsh. There is a division between the slums and the city proper, and guards stationed at the entrance of the slums seek to keep it that way.
Because Lighthalzen is a key city in Schwartzvald, the mighty city hosts a large garrison of soldiers, backed by their Guardians and Gunslingers, and the only Air Force in Midgard.
History
When Schwartzvald began expanding, they bought as much land as they could, and warred for what they couldn’t. In almost no time Schwartzvald had dominated most of the eastern lands. They quested for knowledge, and in their quest for power they created the Furred races to serve as slaves. The Rekenber Corperation holds a good deal of power in Lighthalzen, and they conduct a good deal of the less ethical, shadier research.
Capital of the Scwartzvald Republic, Yuno, also referred to as Juno, is a mighty and majestic city and center of their arcane power. Home to the Sage University, Yuno houses the most powerful of scholars and a wealth of arcane lore. The floating city is a citadel of magic. Floating high above the earth, and with but a single narrow bridge to enter from, the city is greatly defensible. To further compliment it’s passive defenses, the city houses entire garrison of sages, and an array of wards and other magical defenses.
As the center of Schwartzvald’s Arcane research, Yuno is a wealth of magic lore, making it far from helpless even against the other great nations of Rune-Midgard and Arunafeltz.
History
After a great war between Yuno and it’s parent nation Juperos, the majestic city won it’s independence and left Juperos in ruins. Since then, it has been the center of the Schwartzvald Republic, a powerful nation rivaling Rune-Midgard.
Thirsty for more power, Yuno became the center of research of the Arcane Lore, and is dedicated to pushing the great nation further than ever.
Einbroch, the factory town, mass produces many goods that are shipped and sold to the rest of the Schwartzvald Republic. Due to this, many citizens in the town are quite affluent, although the quality of life is impaired by the thick smog spewed out by the very same factories that give the town its riches. The pollution has reached such an extent that having to seek shelter because of an emergency smog warning is not unheard of.
History
First came Einbech, the mining town. A need was created, and a factory complex was built to refine the ore being extracted from the Einbech mine. The complex eventually developed into a full fledged, sprawling town. As time passed, some citizens of Einbroch began to see themselves as better than the slobs who mined the ore, and the workers in Einbech began to resent the rich who profited from their suffering. The tension has continued to grow as the situation in Einbech has worsened and as the factories in Einbroch has prospered. Another problem has developed as time has passed — the uncaring attitude of many factory owners. Some factories are beginning to break down and become unsafe, due to lack of funding to replace and repair parts, and the pollution generated by the factories is becoming more and more of a problem.
A quant and peaceable village, Hugel sits to the west of Schwartzvald, a small town of worshipers of Odin. Rather out of the way and unimportant, Hugel is drastically different from the rest of Schwartzvald.
History
Hugel was not always part of Scwartzvald. It was a village erected for worship of Odin and maintaining his Shrine. When Schwartzvald discovered the small village, they took over by force, and set metaphorical siege to Odin’s Shrine, and Thanatos Tower hunting down more fragments of the Heart of Ymir.
To this day, Schwartzvald is still scavenging the giant tower.
The Island Regions
Louyang has become well known for its excellent cuisine and the skill of their martial artists. Many different styles and orders of martial artists have been born in Louyang, and often children begin learning how to fight at a very young age. Dragons are heavily revered in Louyang, and one of the most popular soups bears the name "Dragon Soup". Many rumors go around about Dragon Soup's restorative properties.
History
Louyang is an old city, seeped in culture, myth, and legend. It has only been recently that Tristan the III has extended the hand of friendship to Louyang. Now, many tourists leave Alberta on boats bound for Louyang. Many come to admire the architecture, the sights, and the foreign food.

Nifleheim, ruled by the Queen of the Dead, Hel, is a very dangerous place to the living. Monsters and ghosts hide in the darkened alleys, as do the souls of those who did not die glorious deaths and who were not taken to Asgard. It's a dark and desolate road that leads to the City of the Dead, a path that the faint hearted should give a wide berth.
History
Odin himself gave complete control of Niflheim to Hel, one of Loki and Angrboda's children. She judges and rules her people, and not many of her subjects know much about her. The dead who enter Niflheim cannot leave, and she prevents them from doing so, keeping her charges locked within the dark and cold land.
